Hi, I have a WWF 8.04 MSSQL, I transfered it from www.mysite.it/forum to forum.mysite.it. The server where the pages are on is changed with the address.
Since the server is changed, I have a strange behaviour with active users.
Eg.
I am connected to the forum, not hidden. I can see myself in the active users, and some others users. In the same time, another user, that I can't see online, but non hidden, is able to see, in the active users list, other users, different by the users I can see. I can't see him, he can't see me, but both are online. This behaviour affects not just two users, but more users. I made tests with four users, online in the same moments, and we have four different lists of active users.
Seems like array doesn't work properly.
I tried to switch to sessions with database, changing False with True in the apposite function, but is the same.
I supposed it depends from server dropping sessions, but it is set by 20mins default.
I supposed it depends by cookies conflict (the two addresses for the same domain), but deleting cache and cookies with the tester users is the same.
I tried to ask to provider, they can't explane the behaviour, suggesting to ask to developers.
Some ideas?
thank you, Damiano

I paste the actual situation, with three users: Major, Randall, Insomnia.

The forum records the access, but user online results offline. Eg: Insomnia last access 15.08 status offline, but I know she is logged on.

HTTP is a stateless protocol so tracking actual online users in real time is impossible instead a session is created based on the users IP address which is entered into the array and deleted from the array 15 or 20 minutes after last activity.
If you share the same IP address as another user then you will experience the problem that you mention.

Thank you, Borg, but I don't share IP address with anyone. Before moving the forum on the new server it was ok, the behaviour appears after moving. User Randall uses IP from Bremen, Germany, I am in Rome, Insomnia in Sardinia. No way sharing IP address.
At this moment, I'm trying with user, Meleagros, logged on from Republic of San Marino. In forum stats he reads:
In totale ci sono 17 Utenti online, 15 Visitatori e 2 Membri Membri online: Peppone, Meleagros
I view:
In totale ci sono 9 Utenti online, 7 Visitatori e 2 Membri Membri online: simpaticona, Major
I'm really confused. http://forum.discipulus.it/member_profile.asp?PF=1 -

Hi xjmajor,
I think i'm getting this very same Problem.
Over the past few days users have gone from 40 users online on average all evening from 7:30pm... Know i have 2 users Max at the same time. Yesterday it was 12. I havent changed server or anything. Its just started doing it. I've asked mods what they see in active users they just say there self but i'm on at the same time.
I've tryed to upload the Active users file but that hasd'nt helped.
I have noticed sometimes it does reset on the new forum (8.4) so there are no users online then they all start to come into active users.
Its Like its reset it self and got stuck.
Anybody any ideas????
With thanks
Jack Hull
