Hi all..

Working my way thru the install of the mySQL version...and the installing_the_forum.htm quite clearly tells me in #7 to "Run the file 'mySQL_server_setup.asp' "

But that file is NOT in the d/l - nor is it in the second one I just d/l either???

Am I supposed to use the MSSQL_server_setup.asp instead?

???

I think this is a problem with the downloaded files as i just had a look to make sure and it seems that the database connection file also states 'MSSQL'.

Best bet is to wait till -boRg- replies and not to run MSSQL setup just incase.

Mikely, while you're here....

Can I also ask, if I"m doing this right?

Do I run that file on my desktop - and then upload same to the server?

Or, do I run that file on the server itself? ie it will make the mySQL dbase as I've set it up on the server and in the config file?

?

  • Edit the database/database_connection.asp file and add your connection details.
  • Upload all files, including the MySQL_setup file to your server
  • Makes sure you have an empty MySQL file already created
  • run the setup file and follow the instructions

thanks M...

I did just that, and then ran the MSSQL_server_setup.asp file as I dont' have the mySQL one...

And I got an error - "Error Connecting to database on SQL Server"  which is quite right as I setup a mySQL dbase and not an MS-SQL one...

So now what? Where is that missing mySQL file?

your best bet is to give the developer (-boRg- a chance to come online and advise you, he's never far away so i'm sure he'll been online soon.

I've had someone check the file and update it with the correct database setup file for the mySQL version. If you download the file now you will find the correct database setup file in the zip file.
