Hello.  First the backslapping - well done for a great piece of software and what looks like a helpful support forum.

I am a paying user ( http://www.botswanaconnected.com/forum - http://www.botswanaconnected.com/forum ) playing with the forum and getting it setup before I start to promote my site.  However, there is something strange going on, when I attempt to login as admin or register as a new user I get bounced back to being a Guest.

This only happens with Internet Explorer and Maxthon (IE based tabbed browser) - Firefox works just fine.  I have cleared out the cookies through the options menu and still the problem occurs.

I have registered on this site and am writing this using my Maxthon browser, and another web wiz-based forum where I am a member works fine as well.  So the problem doesn't appear to be firewall, cookie or browser based.

A bit of corrupt code somewhere?  I haven't modified anything except the header and footer files yet.

Also this started to happen some days after I uploaded and initiated the forum, and before I changed the header and footer files (if memory serves me correctly!)

I haven't tried from a different computer yet.

Any other bright ideas?

I had a look at your forum and was able to login fine using IE which suggests and issue with IE on your machine.

IE has a bad problem of it's cookie index being corrupted, the only way to fix it is to delete all internet files, then delete all cookies. It's best to do this in your control panel after you shut down IE.

That did the trick. <bows deeply>

I did try deleting cookies, as that seems to be a common solution to this kind of problem, but did it from the menu within IE/Maxthon.  This time I did it from the Windows Control Panel and also deleted the temporary internet files, and I am now able to login.  Hurrah.

Microsoft do know about this issue with IE as they give the same info on some of their own sites that use cookies. What surprises me is that they still have not corrected this problem with IE7!!
