In:  /functions/functions_hash1way.asp   I found  in: Function HashEncode(strSecret)

' This code is for private use only, and the security and/or encryption of the resulting
' hexadecimal value is not warrented or gaurenteed in any way.

To me thats sounds that we can not use the WWF for commercial use.  any more

while in the boRg code is writen:

'**  This program is free software; you can modify (at your own risk) any part of it
'**  under the terms of the License that accompanies this software and use it both
'**  privately and commercially.

and in the

 Web Wiz Forums License Agreement

This license grants you the right to install, view and run one or multiple
instance of this and other programs from Web Wiz Guide for both private and
commercial uses.

Correct me when I'm wrong

Hans

I guess you can't then.

But if you can get hold of the person who wrote it tehn ask them, I've tried but haven't found away to contact them.

The hash Encoding came from:-

Guys,

My understanding of the above hash1way wording is more of a Disclaimer rather than a commercial Copyright blocker. I am not a "Virtual" Lawyer but did use something similar for some Y2K code I wrote a while back simply to protect from idiotic litigation.

If the Developer cannot be found, I guess there is little risk of being able to litigate anyway - Unless he's from MI6 or the NSA!!!

Hope this helps

Thus if you use the SQL version you can take the whole thing out anyway and use the sql functions pwdencode() and pwdcompare + plus some cold altering. It does pretty much the same and you could get rid of the salt field. I did it back on the beta 3 and did not require too many changes...
