Yes. It's my #1 priority now as I have to convert the Photo Album I wrote for my old Snitz forum to work with WWF before I can launch WWF on my website.

Here's a teaser for you...

Sorry about the broken thumbnails, I borrowed the live database off my current forum to work with but didn't want to download nearly 1000 images too!! You can still get a feel for it though.

when do u think this will be ready for download?

That page took about a day to sort out. A lot of that was learning what to replace where and using the new variables from WWF instead of Snitz, so further pages should be quicker. But there's approx 30 to do altogether AND I have to fix all the quirks in the old version that I never got round to changing e.g. each person's album is stored in a personal directory. Currently it uses the username for the folder name, but this needs changing to use their author_id so name changes won't break it. I'd say allow at least 4 weeks.

The first release will be limited in some respects. It won't use the language file and it'll be Access/MSSQL only to start with. I need to get it running quickly for my forum first. I'll worry about those other details afterwards.

It should be a lot slicker though. I'm finding that lots of redundant code can be stripped out because of the CSS and also spotting ways to improve the old code.

looks like i started looking at the right.  I have a few users request a photo album on my site.  I figured that here was the best place to start.  I would appreciate it if you let me know when you had done.  I am just using the Access version of WWF.  Thanks.

Hi Mr Mellie,

Just wondering how this mod is coming along??

Has it been 4 weeks already?? No? Pheewww!

Yeah, it's coming on ok. I can't beleive some of the old code/queries I wrote though. Some pages convert really easily, others I'm doing a lot of re-writing to make the code more efficient.

Definitely something I'll implement once released!

Is there any progres in this mod? It looks fantastic and I realy want to implement tis mod om my site.

Yes, I'm still working on it. Progress has been a bit slow the last couple of weeks, but I'm still plugging away. I've been testing parts of it on a hosted account rather than my local test server which has highlighted some things that need changing and caused some delay. I'll post a few more screenies and keep on updating with progress.

The gallery is looking really good!!!

Will this gallery require db changes?

lol @Oli, so you spotted it then. LOL We've been around since 1994, so yes a long time, but not THAT long!

Javi, yes there are db changes required. However, none of the original tables in WWF are touched or changed in any way, all the changes are just  adding tables for use by the PA.

That's still quite a while!

Sorry to keep asking, but how's the photo gallery coming on?

I've still got a couple of small bugs to sort out and then the admin pages need converting, but the bulk of it is done now (pending discovery of any other bugs!!). Not too long now I hope... Smile

Ive got Oli helping me with some beta testing at the moment, so things are progressing. Once we've (me) ironed out the bugs we (Oli) find and have created some proper setup files, I've got another tester waiting in the wings to try it out on. :)

Sam, we haven't test it on MySQL yet, but the idea is that it should work on all backends.

Hi MrMellie,

One more question. Since v9 is right around the corner, will you also be releasing an upgrade script to port it over to v9 once its out?

thanks for your hard work on this!

Posted By: MrMellie
Date Posted: 22 April 2007 at 9:34am
Javi, yes when v9 is out, I'll update the code to work with it if needed. My current forum has 3 years worth of photos on it, so I'm not about to loose them!! As this is more of an add-on than a Mod though, there should hopefully be very little to do, if any.

So, are you sharing the code yet?

We're working on the installer for you next. Tested 90% of the main code now and all looking good.

Thanks for the work you are putting in on this, I know that it will be used by a couple of sites to start with.

If you need any help testing please shout.

I need to catch up with Oli, we've stalled a bit the last week or so. Embarrassed

I think we're there apart from the installer code to set up the databases.

Ditto, my forum is actually sponsoring a photo contest so it would be nice if anything (even if not complete) could be shared.

What database are you chaps using? The pages to create the required tables aren't done, but if you use Access or SQL and are prepared to do soem manual work (either copying tables over or using some T-SQL script) then I can let you have it early.

I should have the Access and MS SQL versions ready for release tonight. This should be the complete release version including database install pages that I've written and installation instructions. Bare in mind though that as early adopters you may be picking up on any minor bugs left or stuff I've forgotten to mention in the instructions!

We're having a few problems testing MySQL so I wouldn't advise downloading it yet if you use that database.
