I think the problem with the lack of response is the title isn't very good, what your asking is a database issue

I have been using WWF for years now (probably longer than just about everyone here) and having a ton of images on the server does not hurt the performance at all, and moving them to a different folder is not going to change a single thing!

Maddog, youīll notice the problem, if you click the upload picture button. If you really got a tons of pictures in that folder, it will take ages for WWF to scan the folder. (I have several thousand pictures in the upload folder).

The fix I linked to above does the trix as WWF no longer scan the folder when opening the upload box.

Thank you very much - workaround work for me!! :-)
BTW - as far as I understand, no one tried to separate images into folders? It's simple but DB changes required...

I've modded the uploads for my forum so they go into a folder for each user and are managed with an attachments table. It's not "finished" though as I haven't changed the RTE files, just the non-RTE ones as I haven't got WSYWIG enabled. One of those things I'm tweaking to get myself up and running and might share later if I have time to clean it up properly.

Iīm not quite sure what ideas boRg got with WWF in the future, but I agree, it would be a very nice feature to be able to upload into a user specific folder insted of one single folder. This will be a step ahead of a user gallery as well. It would also solve the problem with the slow scanning process, (as long as the users dont upload more than 256 pictures into their folder).
WWF once did upload into a user specific folder, but boRg changed that for some reason I canīt remember.

Mikey - Youīre fix sure is great. Normally I do not modify my WWF. First of all, it can make the system more insecure, (if the patch is not secure in itself). Second it takes a hell of a time to keep up with all the modifications. Each time there is an upgrade to WWF, you have to take care of the modīs installed as well.
So I use only two modifications on my WWF, and yours is one of them.

Whenever there may be an easy way of upgrading/patching every WWF and modifications, I might consider other mods as well. But for now I stay with yours and a simple "last 10 posts" mod, thats all. I might even remove the Latest 10 post mod, as itīs a rather old one, and require an exchange of the default.asp file. This is not good, as boRg made changes to this file quite a few times afterwards, which is not in the modīed default file. But it has almost become a demand from the users of my WWF, that there have to be a "latest 10 post", so I have to use it Confused
