Hello everyone, I'm back to writing some websites in ASP and need to learn how to do some pagination when pulling results from a database. Basically, my results are displayed in standard "table fashion" which makes for a lot of scrolling. I need to have a system similar to that in the forum. Ok - I've implemented code found here: http://www.asp101.com/articles/recordsetpaging/index.asp which seems to work pretty well. The easiest way to do pagination is use MySQL as the backend database. The LIMIT and OFFSET clauses are designed to do exactly the function you want. No more pulling off 1000 records just to few a small subset of them. 
SQL2005 also has a new function (ROW_NUMBER)that can be used to give the same results. |
