Hi!

I try to use the forum in frames... like a menu frame for the whole page and the forum in another frame.... but when I try to register or login I get this message:

"Sorry, only members with sufficient permission can access this page.

A security error has occurred with authentication.
Please ensure that all cookies are enabled on your web browser, and you are not using a saved or cached copy of the page.
"

Can someone tell me WHY!?

The forum won't run in frames as cookies do not work properly.

My V7 forum works in frames just fine, so it can be done.

Not for much longer though, in my case, because the new, improved, frameless site is nearing completion!

Yep, we are also successfully using both v6 and v7 Final Release in Frames.

If your Forum is hosted outside your Domain you and every Member WILL need Third Party cookies enabled ( <=Low on IE6). Otherwise you and your Users will need to specifically add the FORUM domain or IP for Forum whichever is used, to your Managed Sites Privacy settings using "Always Allow" or otherwise override the standard settings.

If your Forum is hosted in the same Domain as the rest of your site, as ours is, then cookie settings of Medium is Ok. Remember that Medium is the Default on IE6.

Edit: corrections in red

Hope this helps

Nigelo, I second that, a couple of my users have reported problems and that was the fix.

Except you're the wrong way around - the slider in IE6 needs to be at "Low" if the forum isn't on the same server as your main site. This on restricts third party cookies; "Medium" blocks them.

Better to add and "allow" the forum server domain or IP though, as you say!

(Or even better, use Opera that doesn't throw such a wobbly)
