Ok my administrator is haveing a bunch of problems enableing email for some odd reason, so I was wondering if I was able to use my isp's smtp server with my forums. If I can how can I do it?

What email component would I have to choose?

I know my isp's smtp server
I know the username
I know the password

and if needed my isp is chartermi.net

Your query (problems enableing email) doesn't make sense... Did you mean email activation functionality? Who is your hosting provider? (your hosting provider not your internet provider...maybe your hosting provider is your ISP itself?). You need to contact your hosting provider and ask them which mail component they support (examples: JMail, ASPMail, CDOSYS, etc...)... when you have the answer then go to your forum admin area and select it.

My hosting provider gave me an smtp link that does not work. My hosting provider uses ASPemail and when I try to send it gives me the same errors every time and the guy says he doesn't have time to work on it.... here are the errors

Persits.MailSender.4
550 5.7.1 ... we do not relay

oh that relay error again... in that case you might have to get the smtp server name for the Internet Service Provider that provides internet connectivity to your hosting server. Not your own ISP's smtp, the hosting's server ISP's smtp. Thats because the emails are being sent out out of your hosting server using the internet connection provided by the hosting's ISP... and authentication would be required... so if you're using GMAIL... in your forum admin CP set the smtp we talked about and then set your gmail email and have it to require authentication and include your gmail's username/password.
