Is there a mod or even just a way to make the Individual Member permissions accumalative rather than overriding?

The problem we have is with edit rights, our user groups all have different permissions in each of the forums and we like to award the edit rights to those members who have proven themselves as responsible and trustworthy etc.

But because those users are within a group with others who we don't want to give edit rights too, then we have to allocate them using the Individual Member permissions.

BUT because they override the user group permissions it takes forever to remember excatly what permissions they should and shouldn't have and it takes about 15 minutes each time to just give them edit rights in their own posts across the whole site.

We are a new site so its bad enough now, later as we grow its gonna be a real pain .... so we thought that it would help a lot to be able to make the individual member permissions accumilative rather than overwriting. So it wouldn't replace the group member permissions like it does as default but instead adds to them for that particular member?

Why not set up a new group with special permissions and assign members to these new groups instead of giving out special permissions to each member

Good idea Javi712 but the problem is that we have a mod applied that has created 15 levels within a group much like the ladder system, only we have 5 groups at the moment with that system.

The groups are basically races and as such posting and access restrictions apply to some threads. They need to stay in the groups they are in to stay part of that race and climb the level ladder as they earn points.

So in a way it would in a sense be the same as creating individual Membership permissions, but thanks for the ideaThumbs%20Up

You can see how we are set up at http://www.lotrdreams.com - www.lotrdreams.com

Instead of cloning features from lotrplaza.com, why don't you come up with some of your own and make your site original? I doubt many people would want to frequent a place that is just a basic copy of another established site for long.

It's up to you. Take this post however you want. I'm not annoyed that you want to copy our site, I find your imitation flattering, but at least offer your members something new rather than copying ideas from other sites in the same field.

The only thing about this fiasco that sets my teeth on edge is that I now feel unable to help other members on this forum as it just aids you in your "Clone War".

I hope you enjoyed my points Mod, but I feel a little hard done by not being credited appropriately for the use of my work.

Enjoy being a webmaster but remember, the job is ethical as well as technical.

*Sigh* Said the man who started an entire forum to copy our unique RP timeline and who's administration team clocked up over 700 hits on our site before it was even open ...

Though your post doesn't come as a surprise to me at all, I am dissapointed that you feel the way you do and that you can't see past your own little world and realise that there are many such Tolkien fan sites, and if you had taken a better look at our site you would have found that it is not a clone site, though I accept it is similar in appearance.

The site has been set up and designed at the behest of its members, nothing more. However I fail to see how even you could assume that lotrplaza.com is the only tokien site that has a rank ladder system and points system in place.

As for your'e mod, concerning points, I personally did look at it, but was unable to make head nor tail of it at the time! Had we of used it! full credit would have been given openly along with our gratitude. I am not a webmaster at any stretch of the imagination but we do have one, it saddens me that you will no longer offer assistance to other webmasters upon this forum as I know since you took over the site from its creator you have become an accomplished coader who could help them out a lot.

But that is your decision to make, I did try and not ask for assistance openly upon this forum for fear of such a reaction and I apologise to those witnessing this and for bringing it to your door.

Borg, my sincere apologies for this and if you feel it best for the forum then I will cancel my membership. I am unlikely in the foreseeable to offer any help or advice to its members more than likely the opposite where as I know that Mo/Melkor will be a great asset to your members.
