Subject: Topics are coming up as Events

Hiya

I finally got my board live last week:

Only thing is that topics are appearing as 'Events'. Can someone explain why this is happening and how can I stop it?

Welp, you've done something and without seeing the source asp it's gonna be pretty hard for us to help you with it.

I would say that somewhere on the route from posting to appearing your new topics are being given the wrong topic classification so start with the new_reply_form.asp and work your way through the chain.

Hiya - thanks for that. Before I go in to the coding, is there somewhere in the admin area that controls topic-type? Like an admin option there somewhere.

I had a good look but couldn't find anything in there.

If you have granted users or groups permission to post Calendar Events then when you create a new topic make sure you don't set an event date.

If you set an event date for the topic it will be displayed in the calendar as an event.

Ah, that's given me the answer - I'd set the eventDate field on the tblTopic to a default value of Now() - my mistake on the importation I had to do. Anyways, that's fixed now. thanks so much!
