Hi,

I want to build a forum with the below characteristics:

1) Allow only registrations by invitation.

2) Allow only members to view pages

Does anyone know ready software that can be customised to accomodate these features?
thx

Sure, WebWizForums! With the exception of invitations which you could include easily.

oh right,

just saw the software...

What would I need to do to include the invitation part? How easy would it be to include it?

All you need is to create a new page within the forum directory, link to it somewhere on the forum.
Here is an excellent 'Tell A Friend' script (ASP-Based): http://www.codetoad.com/asp/tell_a_friend.asp - http://www.codetoad.com/asp/tell_a_friend.asp

if your not very ASP savy, WWF has a feature that allows only Admins to create users,

so if its you doing the inviting, you can create the account and email the user their shiny new username and password.

if its invite by members (like with gmail) then you'll have to create a new page to do all the work

WWF is a good option. If you want ASP.NET you can look at either DotNetNuke or CommunityServer.
