First of all, thank you for the great work and I can't tell you how eager I am to put this on my website.

Before going ahead and installing WebWiz NewsPad I wanted to know how this could be integrated with the forum (made by WebWiz) that is already on my site. Is it a manual thing that I have to do like coding or is it automatic? If I create a new SQL database and install NewsPad on it, how would it be integrated with WebWiz Forums?

The software has been built to integrate with Web Wiz Forums as simply as possiable.

Once NewsPad is setup on your web site, log into the online admin area where you will find a tool to enable Web Wiz Forums integration and connect to the Web Wiz Forums database.

You simply enter in the details of your Web Wiz Forums database hit the test connection button and if all the details have been entered correctly NewsPad will connect to your Web Wiz Forums database.

Once this is done you will find that when you go to send an eNewsletter or News Bulletin you can select which Web Wiz Forums member groups you wish it to be emailed to.

The send process has been made as slick as possible with a progress bar and can be manually paused at anytime to continue the sending at a later time. Batch sending of emails can also be setup.

Oh nice, so now I understand that NewsPad have to have its own database and can't use the forum's database for its own configuration/content.

The tables use a different prefix so you can use the same database as for Web Wiz Forums.

NewsPad uses the table prefix 'tblNP' and Web Wiz Forums uses the prefix 'tbl'

Both NewsPad and Web Wiz Forums also have the table prefix stored in the setup_options.asp file so you can place as many copies of each as you like in the same database just give each install a different database table prefix.

Very nice.

I understand there is a login capability for subscribers to see private newsletters (at least that is what I gathered from the description).

Is there any integration on the login side?  For example, if someone is already logged in WWF and their e-mail address matches the e-mail in NewsPad, will NewsPad automatically log them in when they visit a NewsPad page?

That would be very nice.

Not at the present time but looking at adding some type of support for this.

I just installed it.  It looks great.  And I am glad to hear you will be supporting additional integration options.

I definitely want one login for the website though.  That is a must.  I've already integrated many other scripts to use WWF's membership database with great success.

Some things I would like to see for integration:
  • WWF account and NewsPad account with matching e-mail addresses are linked.  Or alternatively, WWF maintains the user account and NewsPad just keys off that.
  • Users can log in to WWF with a username, and NewsPad with their e-mail address.
  • Logging in to WWF and NewsPad have same password for a user.
  • Logging into WWF logs them into NewsPad.*
  • Logging into NewsPad logs them into WWF.*
  • Users do not have to create a second account on WWF if they have one on NewsPad and vice versa.
  • To the user, it should look like there is only one account for the whole website (although they can login with their e-mail address and password on NewsPad or their username and password on WWF).
*Assuming both reside on the same domain name.

I hope that's not too tall of an order, but I think it could be done without any problems.

Also, in future versions of WWF, you may want to add integration options there as well.  For example, when someone creates an account on WWF, it doesn't assume the account is just for WWF and displays links to go to NewsPad, for example.

For example, right now WWF goes to the forum's default page when someone registers or logs in.  On my website, I am actually thinking of creating a different page they go to when first logged in, which links to the forums, mailing lists, member only downloads and other features our website has, instead of assuming the only reason they joined was for the forum.

I may even set a parameter so that it features a specific section based on where they came from on the site.  For example, if they came from the forums to login or register, I would assume they were creating an account and wanted to go back to the forums.  If they were in the newsletters section, then I would assume they want to go back there.  If they were in the recipes section, I would assume they want the members only downloads there and send them back there.

If you did something like that, you could make WWF become a universal login for all your products (and ones we integrate into WWF), and have WWF handle the registration and logins for everything (if WWF integration is turned on).  Just pass the necessary parameters from WWF and no need to maintain NewsPad accounts separately.

Just some ideas.  Thanks for the great work. Smile
