Has anyone else come across this?

On a forum i administer i have open forums and password protected forums.
If i log out and click on the active topics button then if i hover over any of the password protected topics it shows up the first post. (dont forget i am logged out) So anybody who is unregistered and doesnt have the password can view the opening post of any password protected post.

Any clues how to fix this?

On the forum we have registered forum users who can post in the open forums and registered club members who have the password to the locked forums.

I am using a access database and version 8.05 of webwiz

Cheers

The active users page does work with the password system, but the way you are doing it, it still probably has the password stored from when you logged into the password protected forum, which is why you are seeing the post.

The password of forums should only be used in conjunction with the more powerful permissions system.

What you need to do is sue the permission system on that forum to not allow access or any other rights to your Guest Group, you should also do the same for any other groups you do not want accessing the forum.

The registered member who brought this to my attention did not have access to the password for the locked forums so could not have it stored previously yet said he viewed a post on the locked forum using the hover. The post he viewed funnily enough had the password mentioned in it and he posted on the locked forum to me about being able to view the post as proof.

As you have said though i will have a play with the permissions systems and see how i get on.

Cheers
