User group keeps reverting

I am using version 8.05 with MySQL

I have created a new user group called Oxford. I have changed one of my users so that he is a member of Oxford, however every time he posts he is reverted back to be a member of the newbie group. He has seen this on two different machines...

I have changed him back to oxford a number of times but this just keeps happening

Any ideas?

Make sure this new group in the admin section is not part of the ladder system and is a 'Non Ladder Group'
