Hi,

I have one text box set up in my flash document to read from an external file.  I set the text field's properties to the same as a static text field's properties on another page (Palatino Linotype 13pt).  However, the text looks different between the two text fields when viewing the movie.

I set the dynamic text field to render HTML code, but I don't think that has anything to do with the problem I am having.

Any ideas what may be causing the formatting to appear differently between the static text field and dynamic text file that reads an external file would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

RCorr

HI I don't know if I've read your query properly, and you posted this a while ago, so don't know if you've already fixed it, but have you installed all of the fonts available for your flash document?

I don't know if you've built this from scratch or used a template, but this might help you a wee bit..... http://www.template-help.com - www.template-help.com and look up the bit under Flash relating to fonts

Hope this helps?

I am using a simple .txt file to generate the text.  Does the type of external file plays a role in how the content should be formatted?

No the .txt file should be fine, we prefer xml but that may be just personal preference.  Since the text is coming from an external source, flash always goes for the defaults in dynamic fields.  You might want to try embedding the font.  Click on the dynamic field, click on the Properties panel and "embed" the characters that you need.  You may have to select each character (A-Z, 0-9 and the symbols you plan to use)

Hope that works!
