The RTE is menat to be a complet project, it is intended to apply to your already exsisting project that uses standard textareas.

What you need to do is create your application without the RTE using standard textareas and have them save to the SQL Server.

Once you have completed this, then apply the RTE to turn your plain textareas in RTE HTMLareas.

I you don't know how to save to a database have a look on Google as there are lots of articles on this. You can even have a look at the Access tutorials on saving data on this site as it is the same as for SQL Server you just need to change the connection string and database driver.

I know how to post form details to my SQL server, no problem. What I don't understand is when you said:

"Once you have completed this, then apply the RTE to turn your plain textareas in RTE HTMLareas."

Can you tell me how to pass details from the database to RTE, and then how it relates back to the DB?

You apply the RTE to an already existing textarea, in that converts your textarea and data in your textarea into an RTE HTMLarea.

You shouldn't need to change anything about your textarea, you simply place your data into your textarea as before and when the form is submitted the data is handled the same way as before from the same textarea.
