Once you have the language file open look file the line that starts with "Const strTxtSelectAvatarDetails" scroll to the end of this line and change the size to what you entered in the CSS file.

look for the file: css_styles/default_style.css

Find the avatar block and change it there.

when you save your changes make sure that you delete your browser's cache (temporary internet files) and refresh the page to see the change.

for some strange reason the css file has no effect to the avatar size at all.
when i rename the default_style.css the style sheet of the forum disappears of course but the avatars are still there and have still the same size .

looking at your post above the first V8 versions had max-width, which ment the images could keep their aspect ratio, but would be resized if they drifted over the 'max width/height'.

But as IE (the most used browser) currently doesnt support it, it ment it had no affect on the images, and images we're allowed to be for example 500x500.

Due to IE not supporting it alot of people complained and as such borg (WWG) changed it to a fixed width/height.

..........to be brief, it appears you have an old CSS file.
