I hope that there's someone out there who understands how e-mail notifications are sent via the forum.

This is my forum:

I've been trying to implement the e-mail notification feature that WWF uses.  I've arranged with my hosting company to use the ASPEmail component, and no username/password is necessary.  I've tried a couple of different outgoing mail servers, but none work.  The hosting company says everything works on their end, but I'm not receiving any emails for any of the discussions I'm tracking.

Beyond the settings in the forum's admin area, what file's code controls the connection to the e-mail server?  I'd like to check its code for any hint as to why the forum is not sending e-mail notices.  The hosting company says no mails have hit the outgoing mail server.

Also, are the discussions tracked sent in individual e-mails, or together in a digest form?  Is there a way to choose?

I appreciate any help on this topic.  I'm very frustrated, and I haven't had much luck in backtracking the code to investigate why mails aren't being sent to the outgoing server.

Thanks in advance.

The forums sending of the email is done by the file functions/functions_send_mail.asp

However, there is nothing wrong with the email functions in the software as they have not changed for years, but doing a reverse DNS lookup on your site shows some issues with your mail servers that could course problems with emails being sent from your site. You should get onto your web host about this.

You can get a DNS report fro your domain from www.dnsstuff.com which you can pass onto your hosting company.
