Any suggestions?

We're running v7 (with the .01 modded files) on a brand new server (JMail component). Until now the email functions have been disabled, while the mail server was being set up.

It's now running, so I enabled the "email notification of posts" option in the admin menu, went to a restricted area (only a select non-ladder group have any access), posted a test post, and selected the "Email Notify me of Replies" checkbox.

A few responses later (from me and the server owner), and I had nothing in my mail box. However, it appears that at least three of the private group WERE getting notifications, addressed to them ("Hi <username>, A message has been posted in... etc"). I suspect everyone in the group has been getting these (some don't check email very often); I worry that ALL users may have been getting them!

The only person not getting the emails was, um, me, but we think that may have been the server config rather than the forum.

The main problem must be forum-related though, because the server doesn't know peoples' usernames or email addresses.

Anyone else had any similar problems?

Any setting I need to check? I've been through the admin options and can't see anything. Help!

The forum can't do this unless the people have selected to have email notification, in which case if you open the table tblEmailNotify you will see the user ID of all those who have selected email notification.

It should work OK, many tests have been done and no-one else has reported any such problem with the email notification.

There can be other erasons also for not getting emails, like wrong email address, DNS lookup errors, email box to full, etc.

Well, we've taken a look at tblEmailNotify and the users who were being notified of the new posts were definitely not signed up to the topic in question.

That said, they had all previously signed up to be notified of new posts in at least one other topic, within the same forum.

The Access DB was migrated from v6 to v7 using the tool available here, might this be a cause?

Ta

Whatever, I'm going to wipe tblEmailNotify and start again, in the hope this cure it.
