hi,

i've used an older version of the roum before now and been very happy with it...

i've just downloaded and installed the latest version for a client but i can't see the CAPTCHA image when i try to register...

i tried changing the session data to write to the DB in case this was somehow related, but it loks like the session data successfully writes but still no image...

anyone got any suggestions as to what i may have done wrong...

cheers

dog

ps i've used the hebrew language pack to translate the forum, if this could possibly have any relation to the problem....

If it is not a session issue the other reason why CAPTCHA doesn't appear is because an incorrect file has been modified while integrating the forum.

If the wrong file is modified it will output code into the top of the CAPTCHA image and instead of binary the browser gets an image file that includes text or HTML and can not render it.

If you have modified any files to place HTML into the top of your pages remove this, it should be placed into the header.asp file.

thanks very much for your reply...

i didn't really change anything other than adding codepage=1255 to the top of every page... i guess i'll try reverting back to the original files + language files and upload everything again....

That might be the problem, if you entered codepage=1255 into the wrong file not only will it appear on every page but also in files like CAPTCHA where it's not wanted and will course problems.

The correct files to edit to enter such items is:-

includes/header.asp
includes/browser_page_encoding_inc.asp

In your case it's includes/browser_page_encoding_inc.asp where it already has this page encoding setup, you just need to uncomment the page encoding you need for your forum.
