I just downloaded the newest version of the forum and unlike the previous one I've had it is all based on ASP. Since I'm not too familiar with the way internet browser reads ASP files and tranlates them into html, I have several questions about the forum installation:
1. Which ASP file should i link my existing page to?
2. I want to modify the background, colors and the header, footer of the forum pages. Which ASP files do I need to modify?
3. Is there any way to test the work of the forum on a local computer with IIS installed? What parts of IIS do i need to activate for the forum to work?
Any help is very appreciated.

1. default.asp
2. css_styles/default_style.css & includes/header.asp
3. Of course! Just throw the forum on your C:\Inetpub\wwwroot folder and browse to http://localhost/forum/default.asp - http://localhost/forum/default.asp . No need to activate anything, by default IIS should have already been setup to read classic ASP.

1. I tried to log in to the forum under Administrator login, pwd: letmein and received the following error:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while writing to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_loginUser()_update_USR_Code
File Name:- functions_login.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.
I checked database, it allows read-write access and the file itself is not locked or read-only.

2. Also, if I want to move database file to another location, which file do I need to modify? Do I just need to keep database_connection.asp in its current position in database folder and just change the pass to the database itself there or do I need to move both database and asp file into the different directory and change the pass in the other asp file?

3. I tried to run forum on Vista platform and it just tries to open the default file again and again: starts with opening explorer window and then popping out dialog box to save or open the default.asp file. And it keeps going on and on.
Thank you very much for help and support!

1- It sounds like you're using 'Microsoft Access' for database type. Try re-uploading just that one file (the database) and before uploading it make sure that it is NOT read-only.

2- Just the Access Database file, not the ASP file. Once you have moved it, then go to the database_connection.asp file and enter the new path where you moved the database file to.

3- Do you have IIS installed on that Vista machine? How do you view your site? Do you go to the folder where the forum is or do you type an address in the address bar like: http://localhost - http://localhost ?
Make sure that you define default.asp and index.asp in the documents types or MIME types in IIS.

I keep getting the same error message on both local server http://localhost - http://localhost and on the remote server. I tried to login with pwd: administrator and pwd: letmein and received the same error about inability to write in the database file. In both places I checked out the file's property and it is not locked. I'm totally lost...
