I recently took over as web master and one of the programs is a version of this forum on their web site.

The previous web guy left in a huff and will not reveal any pass words.

I have already gained access to the web site folders.

I need to know how to locate or where the admin folder is located and change the admin password so I can update the forum and take off the flames he left.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Depending on which type of database the forum uses you may try the following:

1- Open up the database
2- Open up the tblAuthor table
3- Locate the administrator username
3- Change the email address in that record to your own
4- Go to the login page of the forum
5- Click on the 'forgot password' link
6- Type the administrator's username

A new password will be sent to the email you specified.

Note: The steps above assume that your forum is set to allow email notifications.

Thank you so very much for that answer.

I now have discovered another problem that prevents me from achieving my goal.

The datadase has been changed to Read Only.

I am very familiar with setting and changing unix permissions.

How do you set ASP and/or II S permissions?

Any Help - - Thanks

Permissions need to be set on the server by the server admin.

The server admin needs to navigate to the folder containing the database using Windows Explorer and then set Read, Write, and Modify, permissions for the IUSR account.

I have downloaded the newspad and the instructions direct the user to follow the instructions for the forum.

It says to upload all files keeping the folders in correct order.

My question is nowhere does it indicate to upload in ascii or binary such as unix/linux.

Is this a problem or is it important with windows servers?
