-borg-

I just upgraded my largest forum without a hitch to v7.01--It rocks!

Here are a couple of things I noticed:

  • In members.asp there is no way to go "up" a folder or back to the forums without using the back button on your browser. (Missing a hyperlink beside open_folder_icon.gif)
  • In the admin side, when you admin a user it takes you to register.asp outside the framset. This is kind of aggravating since you go out of the admin section.
  • In v6.34 we had the ability to change a users status via the pop_up_profile.asp window from the forum_members.asp page. This is not available in v7.x's.

Now I think I can wade my way though mod'ing these functions back since they make things simpler but can you consider posting these as revisions or patches or for the absolute final version?

1. It's there in the members page, you need to finsh configuring your forums and place in a forum name in the forum configuartion page in the admin section so it has some wording to use as a hyperlink to go back to the main forum.

2. Whats the point in writing a file that does the same thing twice when it's already there.

3. Profiles are now for showing the profile only, to keep things simpler and all in the same place you can only edit the users preferences and status by clicking on the edit profile button at the bottom and editing the users profile from there.

So for points 2 and 3 you will have to write these parts yourself if you wish to have them in the forum.

1. Found it---thanks for reminding me to look closer.

2. The point is that I don't want to have to click back into Admin or hit the back button on my browser twice.

3. I see the point there but a "1-click" ability would be better.

Again, the forum really rocks -borg-! This will give me a couple of simple mods to try.

I shall donate another meager (small budget) amount although you really would be justified selling this thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad its free but I would pay for it no doubt if worse came to worse. Your coding is really helping me learn ASP.
