Subject: CSS formatting

I'm still working my way thru the new default_style.css file to customise the presentation of version 9 as we require. Further to the outstanding issue relating to the format of "Post Options" I have a couple more questions:

1) As with previous versions, I have to remove the following lines to get the forum to match up with our home page and header etc:

margin-left: 0px;
margin-top: 0px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: 0px;
This works fine but causes the new Search and Topic Search panels to have margins and causes problems. How can I add those margin lines so to effect Search and Topic Search only?

2) Is there a way to change the font size, colour, etc on standard form fields, drop-downs and buttons?

3) Is there a way to change the font size, colour, etc on the little notes that pop up when you hover over most page items?

Many thanks.

4) The Member Dropdown on a posting uses a different CSS attribute to the Member Dropdown on Seach Results. Search Results is also missing the triangular icon.

1. This has been fixed for the next version

2. Yes there is a way in CSS to apply CSS styles form elements, if you have a search on Google you should find plenty on this

3. Never looked into this as it's just taken from the browser default. A search on Google may find a way to change the browser default using CSS

4. This has been fixed for the next release.

Many thanks.

2) A basic solution is to add to the css file:

select       { color: #009999; font-size: 12px; }
input        { color: #009999; font-size: 12px; }

5) It would also be sensible if the main top menu (Forum Home: Member Control Panel etc.) used a different CSS attribute to the normal table.

Where the header has a table border (as on my site) it is cleaner that this menu has no border at all...but if I remove the border in CSS I also lose the border on the list of forums and elsewhere.

Great news on the new version...I'm sure these are things that can be handled later...indeed my solution above can be added by anyone with little technical ability like me.

Just gone live - all ok so far.

6) The hand pointer does not display when you hover over POST OPTIONS

7) Not a CSS issue but I'll list it here anyway. I subscribe to all forums so I get email notifications of everything. I looked in Member Control Panel | Subscriptions and sure enough the forums were listed.

As they were not in the right order I decided to delete a couple and reinstate them to see if that would help. They deleted OK but I could not subscribe again using the feature at the bottom of the page. So I deleted ALL subscrptions and tried again - still nothing. So I went to a forum and subscribed successfully from there (Forum Options). Thereafter the feature in Control Panel worked.

Small hickup...workaround possible. Would be good to investigate this (post-conversion issue perhaps) and it would be really tidy to present forums in the right order (low priority).

6. Did you update the CSS files with the new ones, as it has been tested in IE7, Opera, Safari, and Firefox 2, and they all display the hand pointer

7. This issue will be looked into

6) Yes I've been modifying a new one but I'll test again with a standard CSS in case I screwed it up !

PS: I screwed it up - now I need to find out what I did. Maybe I am also the cause of the formatting issue I first mentioned on this field (see top). Lets see...

If you search for postOptions in the new CSS file you should see the new places it's been put in. Including the part that does the hand pointer.

The forum_posts.asp page has also been updated to support the new CSS.

6) OK fixed along with my original Post Options issue - thanks. The CSS for the final release is different to beta 2. I did my formatting in beta 2 and the CSS file I just copied it over. All fixed.

Was anything else changed in the CSS files between beta 2 and final...?

...many thanks for the pointer !?!?!

Only for the parts you mentioned in your bug reports for the CSS Styles.

Margins where increased and the part for postOptions was added.

A few files where also updated to prevent formatting issues coursed by adding a margin to the body.
