Hi,

I'm looking into using this forum in my company web site.

My question concerns the uploading ability of the forum. If I understand correctly, files are uploded to a folder on the local server. Is there a way to change that for multiple-servers scenario?

Can files be uploaded to the DB or to a central file server?

Thanks.

For security reasons upload components can't be configured to work like that.

So what you're saying is that there's no way to use the forum on multiple servers with uploading enabled?

No you can use the forum on multiple servers with uploading enabled but they can not share an upload folder on another server.

This limitation isn't built into Web Wiz Forums but is a limitation of how ASP works.

For security reasons Microsoft has built into it's operating systems restrictions for this type of thing otherwise they could be exploited by a hacker to upload files to other servers.

You may be able to find a work around that uses windows file sharing and mapped network drives, but this is not advisable on a system in a DMS zone as it would open up your system to abuse by hackers.

As people generally won't have such insecure systems setup you would also need to do some recording of the forum so that it can save to these shared drives and also input the correct URL for links from forum posts etc.

The upload folder itself would need to be a public folder with it's own URL so you can use that URL to dis0play the images and links to the files from within posts.
