Hi Borg,

What do you have planned for the future of Newspad? Do you have any plans in giving it more blogging features like comments to articles, archiving old articles, etc?

I don't know about anyone else here, but I really like the Newspad app and am in the process of making it the front page of my site. I would though like to see more blog features in the future, as that is what I am mostly using it as.

Thanks!

It is very blog like at the moment, but people said they didn't want blog like features.

It's such as adding comments to news items would need to wait for version 2 as it would require database changes to add such features.

What's the scheduled release date for ver 2?

There isn't even a schedule date to begin development of version 2 yet, let alone a schedule date to complete it.

The version 1.x branch will continue at least into the first quarter of 2008.

There are plans over the next coming few months to release improved versions of the current NewsPad 1.x and Web Wiz Forums 9.x branches, that include programming API's to interact both with each other and so developers can also develop their own applications and web sites which will be able to interact with the software.

There are also plans to do some usability testing with NewsPad 1.x to make it easier to use and understand.

Where do we send our feedback and suggestions for product improvement?

No response so I'll just start posting my issues here until told to do otherwise.

1. Why do the email recipients need to log in to unsubscribe? We added 1000 members to our database through import so they don't know their passwords. The people I've talked to found it quite annoying to go through the password retrieval process just to get off the list. Most people are used to a simple 1 step unsubscribe process.
Is there a way around this?

2. Why is there no friendly failed login page? If you get your password wrong you should be able to try again. Do I need to write this page myself or did I configure something wrong?

3. Editing Subscribers

The system admin should be able to edit a subscribers information or at least change the categories that they are a member of. I have no way of sending out a message to a subset of my subscriber list if they were not initially added to that category. For example, if I have a prospective client he will receive a different email message than an active client but if that client makes a purchase from us his status, and category should change.

Am I barking up the wrong tree here trying to use Newspad in this way?

I'm not feeling the love on this board. Are these post monitored by the good folks at Web Wiz?

I think suggestions should be directed into this forum;

This topic has been moved to the suggestion forum.

When lists are made up of what is being added to new versions, then the posts in the suggestions forums are read through, and many suggestions are added to new versions.

NewsPad is only in version 1, so is still a very new product. A big overhaul is planed for version 2 to make improvements, both from suggestions from users and from our own experience of real world use of the software.

Some of your suggestions were planned for version 1 but due to time restraints some could not be added. NewsPad was launched as a new product along side a new web site, a new client area for users, and new versions of all our products including Web Wiz Forums version 9, so it was quite a massive project which took over 12 months of work 7 days a week.

Development work on the next version of NewsPad is planned to be started version soon, with a release date sometime in the beginning of the new year.
