It sounds like you already have them.

The database name your host has given you is the name of the blank database they have setup for you.

Follow the install instructions at:-

http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/kb/sql_server_install.asp - Installing SQL Server Version

This will tell you where to put in the information your host has given you on the blank SQL Server database they have setup for you.

I think you are getting stuck on 'blank database' you already have a database this is what your host has given you.

You just need to enter the details of the database server and the database name your host has given you, they have already created the database for you, so you don't need to.

Your web host will provide you with these details. It usually isn't your domain name, but I wouldn't know how your web host have setup their servers.

No, you can run any database type you'd like. You can setup Web Wiz Forums on SQL, mySQL or Access.

Now if you have the option of SQL, go with this option as it is the fastest and safest way to run your forum.

Email your hosting company and ask for the following things:

1. SQL Server Name
2. Username of SQL database
3. Password of SQL database
4. Name of SQL database

Once you have all those 4 things, enter them into the database_connection.asp file in your database directory of your forum

usually you get details of a MSSQL server something like MSSQL1.host.com

the username and password and database name all are set up and used to access the data for the forum

number 1 indicates the mssql server 1, it is the number your host has the MSSQL server.

it doesnt have to say MSSQL it could be a domain, IP Address, etc

what should i ask from my host

ask your host for :

MSSQL server name (the server that holds the MSSQL Database)
Database Name (the name of the databases you can use/access)
Database Username (username to allow you to login to the database)
Database Password (the password used for the username you have that authenticates your login)

that is all you should need , it was stated above
