Ive released my popular http://www.s2h.co.uk/wwf/mods/multiskin-selection/" rel="nofollow - Multiskin Selection mod for V9.

This is the same as V8 and allows users to change the skin and store it to the database or use cookies.

in this version i have added Breadcrumb seperator support the skin authors name (if you wish to use it), if you dont want to use it just leave author blank.

by default, this mod lets users select between the 4 skins that come with WWF including Default, Classic, Dark and Web Wiz.

if you face any problems or have any suggestions for improvements please http://www.s2h.co.uk/forum/default.asp" rel="nofollow - post on my website .

Wow! I guess this is what I've been waiting for! It's very much appreciated, now to see if we can add it to the forums I'm on (I'm just a member). I'll now have to push the ADMIN to add this.

Again, thanks!

Great News Scotty!

But the update (to database) didn't work!  I installed and ran the update and got a 404.  The URL it was trying to find was msSQL_server_update.asp

I'm guessing it's a small problem in the form tag, but wasn't sure.

I actually had to make a few more changes as well.  The row at the bottom (that is used to select your skin) had 3 cells, but the other rows in the table had only 2.

ive now cleaned it up a bit.

well, i cant comment on the other forum. but this mod will work on an unmodified version of WebWizForum version 9.03.

if the other forum your on has modified the same files which i have for this mod (eg default.asp) then it could course problems if they miss out any parts i have added.

if the admin of the forum you visit has any problems or concerns (s)he's welcome to contact me via my site and i will answer any questions they have.

This does require modifying the original data base.

Let say version 10 come out, then how is it going to modify the modified data base?

Don't worry about it.  Borg said the next version will be .net and will likely take about 18 months development!

i'm not sure what you mean.

if you used this mod on WebWizForum V8 then you do not need to run the database update file as you have already done this.

if you havent used this mod in the past you run the database update file, and if/when V10 comes out you wont need to run the database update file again, as you have already installed the required fields.

you can also run the mod off cookies so you dont need to use the database at all.

and if you DO use the database, the field name is mod_skin (or skin_mod) so it will not interfere with WebWizForum if V10 comes with the option changing the skins.

The current version of this mod will only work with V9.50.

maybe it is the problem our ver is 9.04.

any way to fix it?

As I said in the other thread, I need to know the location of your CSS file and the location of your Images folder.

If you do not know these you can either post the link to your forum here or send me the link in a Private Message.

As for the versions. As you quoted, the current version of this mod is designed for version 9.50, if you are using an older version of the forum you do not need to update the mod.

Though this would not course your problem.

The http://www.s2h.co.uk/wwf/mods/multiskin-selection/" rel="nofollow - Multiskin Selection modification has been updated to version 3, this adds new features and adds compatibility for Web Wiz Forums V9.55.

You can download the update from the http://www.s2h.co.uk/wwf/mods/multiskin-selection/" rel="nofollow - Multiskin Selection page.

New Features

V3 now comes with new functionality that allows you to set the header image for each skin, allowing you to have a logo for each skin that better integrates. You can leave this field blank to use the header image that was set in the Administration Area.

Another feature is better error handling, If the skin can not be found or was not set properly the Mod will now use the values set in the forum Administration area. You could use this by having a "Default" skin which has blank values and is updated in the admin area.

How to update

I have done a http://www.s2h.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=137" rel="nofollow - tutorial on how to update to V3 on my forum.

Hi, could use a little help with this please if anyone can :-)

I was trying this fresh today, no previous versions installed, did the latest posts mod earlier.

I had it all set up so that the skins selector was working, I tried the first ones in the default selection and they all worked.  When I tested the last one, this happened:

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a0009'

Subscript out of range

/Forum/functions/functions_common.asp, line 1676

Any ideas?  I had to roll back my default and common files for now :-)

EDIT: Ignore this, just seen it is not compatible with latest posts!

Will it ever be? :-)

Hi SunnySteve

With modifications (and Scotty has provided some excellent choices) it is always  worthwhile actually comparing the files, as some modifications will often use some of the same files, and as such, uploading the skin mod will cause differences to the latest post mods

However, not all is lost as yes it can all run together smoothly (I've done it on several forums) and I'm sure Scotty could if his time allows, create a super all in one mod selection, but I'll leave that up to him, since he is the designer of them, I only pick his brains LOL Wink

If you get really stumped, then either him or I could create a Super Pack (I've trade-marked that name Scotty LOL) and then you could get all the modifications to run in one magnificent package Thumbs Up

First of all, All of my modifications have a "compatibility" page which tells you the other modifications of mine it will work with.

This is based on a "plug and play" bases, if you are willing to play around with the code then all of my modifications are compatible. It just requires a bit of copy and pasting.

Looking at your website, you are using my Latest Topics and Who Visited Today mods. Both of these, as well as the Multiskin Selection mod are incompatible as they all alter the 'default.asp' file.

Since you are using two of these together, it indicates you have already copy and pasted the relevant code blocks over.

You should be able to paste the Multiskin Selection code into your 'default.asp' file and have all three working together, just make sure that you copy and paste ALL of the code needed.
My Modifications are well documented where the code starts and ends (as you may already have noticed) so it shouldn't be to hard.

I would recommend using the Multiskin Selection's default.asp file and copy over the other two mods code into it.

Also, the error you provided is confusing, since neither of the 3 mods I listed above alter the 'functions_common.asp' file. Have you altered this file your self?

The latest version does change the banner in the header, and does change the images.

For the images you must set the path for the folder which contains the new images.

If you look at the "includes/s2h_skinfile.asp" file, it is documented as to what you need to change.

All of the skins that come with the forum (which are pre-entered into the mod) use the same banner and forum images.

If you set this option to False (as is by default) then all visitors (wether registered or gusts) options will be stored in Cookies.

I am not sure what you mean by your last post.

But the latest V9 copy "in theory" should be easy to copy the mods elements into V10. But I have not looked at V10 properly yet, So I do not know how much work would be involved.

How ever, I will be looking at taking advantage of the new features in V10 to add improvements to my mods, for example easily changing options in the Admin Area rather than having to edit the files.

Sorry thats what I was asking.

If I am on v10 and installed your mod for v9.xx would it work basically....

Not worried just some members like the white screens so have to have that as the standard whereas I love the dark skin....

Posted By: Scotty32

You cannot just install the mod in its current form, as the "default.asp" and "common.asp" files will most likely be different.

If how ever you a knowledgable with ASP you should, in theory, be able to copy the relevent parts in each file over to the V10 version of the file.

How ever I have not tested this, so I can not garrentee it would work.

Sorry for the extremely long delay on this, how ever I have finally released a version compatible with Web Wiz Forums V10.

New Feature: By default Web Wiz Forums will only display the same custom icon. How ever you can now have a different Custom Icon for each skin. Alternatively, you can still display the same icon for each skin. More information is available on the http://www.s2h.co.uk/wwf/mods/multiskin-selection/" rel="nofollow - Multi Skin Selection page.

You can download the update from the http://www.s2h.co.uk/wwf/mods/multiskin-selection/" rel="nofollow - Multi Skin Selection page on my website.
