did you have an error? or just access denied?

if access denied are all your forums viewiable to members only once logged in too, if so i would say that.

an error message will help alot

Sorry I should have been more specific The RSS page loads but there aren't any topics listed When I changed the guest permissions back on the RSS page loads with the topics listed If I grant permission for guests to see only one of the forums - out of 14 on the site - the RSS feed lists topics for that forum only I didn't think that denying guests viewing rights should have - in order that they have to register - stopped the RSS Loading with all the topics listed This behaviour happens when I am logged in to the site as administrator or as a registered member

Is the RSS on the forum as a guest Is that why it didn't load when I un ticked the guest permissions? What are the guests in the permissions table? I tried un ticking them and they wouldn't TIA

yes in the RSS you can only see posts/topics that guests have access to.

you should be able to do it within the group permissions section

I am I reading this correctly? If I don't allow guest access to my forum - in order to make them register instead - the registered forum members will not be able to read the RSS feed?TIA

correct its a security breach if they are allowed to view not logged in.

when you are not registered, you cant see them. you could allow guest viewing but not replying.

are you turning guest access aswell as guest posting?

Sorry I am not with you On my forum a guest could view the posts but could not participate at all apart from seeing the RSS and the forum They couldn't post etc etc I want to turn off the viewing of posts in order to force them to register to do what they had previously been able to do When I turn off the permissions for the guests the RSS doesn't load for the registered members The heading appears but the latest posts don't TIA

An RSS Feed is a pubic feed that any one can read using an RSS Reader.

This is mainly due to the fact that when the standard was created non-one thought that private RSS Feeds would happen, so no login standard was created for RSS. Although some attempts to implement logins for RSS Feeds, most are very hit and miss and not universally supported by RSS Readers.

As an RSS Feed is a public feed only posts that the public Guest user can read will be displayed in Web Wiz Forums RSS Feed. If it displayed posts from private forums, then the forum would no-longer be private as anyone with an RSS Reader could read the posts in that private forum.
