I must be overlooking something in the documentation or on the admin screens.

Could someone please tell me how to lock a topic or lock a thread?

Thanks in advance.

I'll be darned if I can see a link or an icon that reads "moderator tools" or anything of the like whether I login as a regular user, a moderator or even as the forum administrator. Can you give explicit instructions? What is the URL of the page, or the filename of the ASP page that contains this link?

I am using version 8.01 of the forum software.

Thanks again for any help.

Regards,
Michael Floyd

In 8.01 when you login as the admin you get a little 'admin' icon next to the topic subjects on the Topic pages, and an 'admin' icon at the top right of the post pages.

Clicking this icon opens up a pop-up windows with various tools, such as changing the topic name, moving the topic to a new forum, etc. one of the options is to lock the topic.

However there are a few security concerns with 8.01 which is almost 2 years old now, and you should upgrade to the latest version ASAP to keep your forum  secure.

Thank you for the replies. Now that it has been pointed out, I do remember seeing these icons before but had forgotten about them.

I guess I should consider the latest version of the software. Is conversion from 8.01 to the latest release painful? Is there a data migration tool so as not to lose my current forum data?
