you cant stop mods from deleting posts as far as i know.

if you choose "delete posts" in the forum permissions this only relates to their own posts, but if you tick the "moderate" box then this will over-ride it and they will be able to delete posts and topics.

any way to track what people do?
So if they delete a topic its gone forever?

if thats the case i think WebWiz needs an enhancement to not delete a topic completely.

you COULD mod the forum to email you if a post is deleted, maybe even with the post.

i understand why you would want webwiz to be enhanced but, if your worried your moderators will delete posts they shouldnt, maybe they shouldnt be a moderator

If using SQL Server you can take incremental backups which may help in a pinch if you need to restore a topic and associated postings from a test database.

ohiopbx got point. I think WWF should add a field to db which will store user ID of the person who requested for the deletion. Default value 0 will indicate no one is requesting deletion. And if the value is grater than zero, admin can delete it completely.

Not that exactly above process has to be done. But it will be better having some similiar feature.

thanks, yeah i think Admin should have final say.
I created a mod to simply "hide" the topic and send me an email!!!!!
SO FAR 1 MOD HAS TRIED TO CLOSE A TOPIC FOR NO REASON! GOT'CHA!!!!!

IMO, they'd be dropped as a mod if the admin wasn't happy about the job they were doing.
I'm lucky, our forums I'm the admin and there is myself and 5 others who are moderators. We agree so much on things, and if there's a matter of deletion, it's often discussed in the hidden mod section unless it's a rules violation, then any mod can delete or modify anything at any time if a rule has been violated. We're a tight group and agreed very clearly on rules before the forum even went up.

thanks, yeah i was so p*ssed
i think my next enhancement will be to "move" them to a hidden category so they "think" it deleted them so i can CATCH the person who think's they are oh so sneaky!

I swear, i had a huge client and they DELETED their thread!!! that client emailed me like "What happened" talk about embarrassing.

if anyone wants the mod i made let me know.

ohiopbx will love installing the mod in my forum. Do share it with us.

And a little if i may suggest, do what ever changes needed in Subs or functions in an include file and in the WWF files, just call them.

This way, it is easier for rest of us who don't know much scripting to install other mods.
