Trying to suspend a user, but when I click the button to edit settings I get this error message:

------------

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e21'

Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

/forum/admin_register.asp, line 394

----------------

Using 9.0.5 registered. Any ideas?

This will be looked into, for the moment you can suspend users from within the main forum pages by editing their forum profile when logged in as the forum admin.

By the way to try and replicate this do you have any unusual settings like using the Member API, or the Windows Active Directory API?

When I try and moderate (logged in) from the front end I get the following:

-------------

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e21'

Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.

/forum/register.asp, line 939

As to your API questions, not my strong point, but happy to host any files / make inquiries that might help.

The server is PHP4 based Windows IIS (I think). I can do a phpinfo (or equivalent) if that would help.

I take it as you are asking about hosting the API you are not using it otherwise you would know what it is.

The forum is written in ASP, so the version of PHP installed on the server makes no difference as PHP support is not a requirement.

All really need to know is the Web Wiz Forums version and the database type you are using? (eg. Access, SQL Server)

Also check the server requirements page to make sure that the server is an Windows 2000, 2003, or 2008 server with IIS and with ASP enabled.

IIS6 2003 Windows Server - MySQL 5 database
We use version 9.0.5 of the forum software.

If you are using mySQL 5 then the problem looks like you have changed the default driver as the error is thrown up by:-

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers

This is a Microsoft driver error, when using the mySQL versions you should be using the myODBC 3.51 driver.

Have you edited the database_connection.asp file to use a different driver? Also check that it is the mySQL version you are using and not the SQL Server version.

That's what I thought, but the file is setup correctly.

In the Database System Type Section I have removed the  '  in front of the MySQL line and left it on the other 4.

In the relevant places underneath "Enter the details of your Microsoft SQL...." section I have completed the four lines as appropriate. The forum is accessing the database fine with users posting messages etc

There is no reason why you would get this error, and can only think it's some type of server issue, as we have over 200 mySQL 5 Web Wiz Forums running on our own servers here without any such issue, and as of yet no-one else has reported this issue.

If you have support I suggest that you login into the Client Area and contact support giving details of your forum, server, and login details so that support staff can lo into your forum and try and workout what the problem is.
