Hi all

Just started using this - and its fantastic

the only problem I'm having is that I have members whose status I change on an individual basis - ie someone registers, pm's me and I then change their status depending on who they are.

However this status seems to be reverting back to the starting group on a regular basis. I'm assuming its a caching issue and have advised people to clear their browser cache, but is this a common problem and does anyone have any good pointers for fixing it? Just a bit of a pain as I have several private forums where only certain user groups can view them.

Also does anyone have any easy suggestions for stopping hidden groups for showing up in the active topics list. Is there a config flag I've missed somewhere?

many thanks!

andy

hmm actually I don't think it is a browser caching issue - I've just added a new member group and now all new people registering are being assigned to that group. Despite it not being, and never having been assigned as the starting group. Its also assigning some existing members to this group.

I've clicked update starting group to make sure it is on the right one but I'm a little bemused as to why this would happen...and I'm not convinced that its now sorted! With an expected user base of over 1000, I'm a little scared that I'm going to end up setting people's status constantly!

any ideas?!

Are the groups set up as ladder groups so they might change based on posts?

all of them are set to require 0 posts....only administrator and guest are non-ladder at the moment

I can set them all to non-ladder as I won't ever change status based on number of posts, if you think that will help?

aaah actually thinking about it that makes sense - I've set them all to non ladder. I guess it was recalculating status on every post...

cheers!

Andy
