We are running a WebWiz forum, version 7, Access database. My question is, if we were to upgrade to Version 9 using MySQL can we import our users, topics, posts into an MySQL database?
The forum has been running for three years and we'd hate to lose all our archived topics. I have read that there is an import function for users but can we just migrate our present database, kit and caboodle, into MySQL?
And I suppose another question is: should we? We have 25 forums containing 898 topics, 43455 posts and 3955 members. Is this something Access can handle?
The forum has been running fine up until a couple of months ago, now some members are having problems with time out errors due, we feel, to traffic. We are thinking of moving the forum to another host and think we may want to move to MySQL at the same time.

I wouldn't use Access for any more than a handful of users.
The first thing to do is upgrade your forums database to version 9, then have a look at migrating the database to mySQL.
There are a number of tools if you search Google for migrating Access databases to mySQL. However, mySQL is very different to Access and uses many different datatypes, so often you do not end up with a stable database.
I would instead look at upsizing the database to SQL Server, using the upsize tool in Access.
