Hi, now I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post this, but please bear with me because I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.

I'm trying to sign up to http://www.lotrplaza.com/forum/default.asp - this forum which is hosted by WebWiz, but I never received an activation e-mail required to activate my account. When I click on 'Resend Activation E-mail', I get this error message:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while sending an email.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_send_mail_footer
File Name:- functions_send_mail.asp

Error details:-
CDO.Message.1
The transport failed to connect to the server.

I've tried e-mail the admins on the board and I get the same error message and my e-mail gets bounced back to my Inbox.

Funnily enough, I get the exact same error message when trying to sign up to another forum hosted by WebWiz, so it isn't a one off. The problem isn't at my end either, because I've tried signing up on a Mac, a PC. I've used Opera, Safari, Firefox, IE and I've tried using different e-mail accounts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had a look through our systems and the site you refer to lotrplaza.com is not a website that we host on our systems, looking at there DNS it looks like the site is hosted by a company called FastServers.

The site is using our Web Wiz Forums software, just like 1000's of other web sites, but they have installed this software on their own web hosts systems.

The error you are getting is because the forum admin has not correctly setup the email settings or the mail servers of their hosting provider are currently offline.

As this is not a forum hosted on our systems there is nothing that we can do except suggest that you try contacting the web site owners directly and inform them of this problem. They can then contact their web hosts to get the issue fixed or obtain the correct settings that they need to enable their forum to send emails.

Ahh, thanks a lot for clearing that up.

I'll try contacting FastServers.

If all else fails, I'll look at random usernames on the forum, search for them on Google and hopefully find their names listed on other forums they've signed up on, where I might be able to sign up and contact them.
