Hi All,

My ISP have changed the password (For security reasons) on the MS SQL server. My problem is that I cannot remember the password and either need to

1) Find out what the old password was? I deleted the database files as instructed.
2) I can reset the SQL password, but I need to change it on the forum and don't know how.

I've search this forum but couldn't find anything to help,  any pointers would be great.

Thanks

M ace

Your web host will be able to give you the SQL Server login details.

If you need to reset the admin password in Web Wiz Forums then the following kb article explains how it can be done:-

Go back to the install documents, it tells you which file to edit and where:-

http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/kb/sql_server_install.asp - Installing SQL Server Version

These are version 9 install documents, but they are the same as for version 8.

You need to follow points 6 and 7.

OK, but are you sure this won't overwrite the forum data by creating tables etc?

If you turn off firendly HTTP errors in IE you get what the actual error is.
