It would be really neat if the News Pad allowed viewers to:

1. rate the article
2. comment on it (with admin review/approval)

A comment systems is definitely on the cards for version 2. The rating system is also a good idea

It would be a plus if you gave the admin an option of specifying:

1. a URL for each news item
2. a customizable description for each URL

this would allow admin to link to a specific forum where visitors can get into actual discussions and not just blog about individual news items. I'd like to encourage visitors to get more involved not just read. The comments are geat because it allows instant, highly visible feedback.

Basically I want to promote both:
     news comments for quick feedback
url to forum for in-depth discussions

I just saw this thread and I see that it's 9 months old.

Does NewsPad now allow article comments? And can it be used like a blog?

I certainly think that the people behind this very nice application should wake up and move on to web 2.0... The RSS feature is nice, but SO yesterday Dead Let's have rating and commenting, sharing and link-back. Then I maybe would stop to feel disappointed just because I did pay for a license!

If you knew what you were getting when you paid for a license, then you have no reason to feel disappointed - because you got what you expected, right?

Of course I knew what I was buying about 2 months ago. But just as the thread-starter, I also wondered about the missing usabiliy things mentioned above, which are almost demanded by default today. And since this thread started a year ago, I have a little problem with understanding why they are alking so long with upgrading to the common standards of the web today...
I mean - if they want to stay in business AND want to service the customers, they should consider getting their foot on the speeder!

It sounds like what you are after is a blogging tool, which web wiz NewsPad is not intended to be.

There are hundreds of blogging tools out there and Web Wiz NewsPad was never intended to be a blog, if it had then it would have been created as a blog with the things you mention and called Web Wiz Blog or something similar and marketed as a blogging tool.

Web Wiz NewsPad is intended as eNewsletter/email marketing software for sending eNewsletters to customers or they choose to subscribe to RSS Feeds. Yes it does show the eNewsletters online, but this is more like an archive of past eNewsletters or for creating a News Room or Press Release section of a web site, and not intended as a blog.

People who use NewsPad are not looking for a blog they are usally buinesses looking for a mass eNewsletter/Marketing tool and this is were it's abilities lie and set it apart from many other applications out there such as blogs.

If you are looking for a blogging tool then the next version of our Web Wiz Forums software (used here for this site) will have blogging tools built in. NewsPad also works with Web Wiz Forums as a mass email/marketing tool for sending mass emails/eNewsletters to Web Wiz Forums members.

Version 2 of NewsPad will allow people to comment online on eNewsletters and News items, but there are no plans to turn it into a fully developed blogging tool with all the features that you mention or would find in a blog as this would detract from what NewsPad actaully is an eNewsletter/Email Marketing Tool.

Hi Bruce - thank you for the quick reply. No, I am actually NOT looking for a blogging tool; I will leave that to the other 10 billions out there Wink
I think I have understood the purpose of WWNP, and that's why I initially bought it. I think your application is a very nice one of its kind, as I believe I did mention earlier. But...

I bought the app to use-as-is with the, until know, quiet wish, that you at some time would update the app. with the features I listed a couple of days ago. It's not really a "complaint". I'm just a bid sorry about the missing usability, thinking of the guests and users around the world, who are getting more and more used to and familiar with the abilities to "Tip A Friend", "Comment", "Share" and, and, and so on.

Since this thread started "some time" ago, I just thought that you did take notice of your users wishes and requests.
So - will you update, or do "we" (read: I) have to adjust and edit the app. without your participation..? I believe, as mentioned earlier in this thread, that it would be good for your business - at least I would be willing to pay and additional fee for being able to upgrade my WWNP app.

All the best wishes form Denmark
Peter

Not wanting to step into a battle here....  but just wanted to say that I would like the following features:
  • Allow Comments on eNewsletters on the Website
  • Comments Feed has its own RSS
  • Ability to link to a forum discussion or discussions related to the eNewsletter (to encourage people to use the forum)
  • Share (e-mail, boomarking sites, social networks, etc.)
And to comment on why I chose Web Wiz Newspad is because it was the only solution that I found that combined e-mail newsletters, RSS newsletter and webpage newsletters all in one product.  The fact that my newsletter can be published once to e-mail, RSS and web was the strongest selling point for me.

Another thing that I would like is additional integration with the forum (i.e. logging you into the forum also logs you into the Newspad as well).
