Maybe I simply overlooked it but I am looking for instructions on how to update an outdated forum software with a new version without losing data.
I am currently using version 7.95 and would like to update to a newer version since I get numerous reports from members unable to log in from Vista. Seems to be a cookie issue, and I hope it is solved in the latest version.

So are there any resources explaining which files to copy and which to keep? I am using an access database to store messages.

Thanks for any help!

The only file you would keep is your Access database, the rest would need to be deleted, there was a massive forum engine rebuild for version 8 which re-wrote every single file to make the forum engine more secure and in some cases up to 2000% faster loading.

If you download the free express edition there are Database Upgrade Tools, with instructions on how to use them. You need to use this tool to upgrade your version 7 database to version 9.

Thanks. I managed to get the update done.
I just noticed that the update engine messed up German special characters in posts and topics. The result was still readable but RSS broke down due to illegal chars. I manually converted the MDB afterwards. Maybe someone picks this feedback up and adds code to the update asp. Should be an easy change.

Thanks again for your great software. I purchased a Premium Edition yesterday.
