ASP Simple Upload

We support a component called ASP Simple Upload for uploading graphics and files through a web browser. It's a copy/paste implementation. Very easy to use.

You must have an old version, in version 7.01 it has support for ASPsimpleUpload.

You select this component from the drop down list when setting up the upload component from the admin area.

I've tried 2 of the free ones, and I'm just either increibly stupid or just dense....(maybe I should try again after a few pints of something stronger than coffee?   )

I tried Dundas, since it had an installer...but I'm really unclear on what to do from there...I've followed his Doc's and I'm not quite clear on what I have to set on the server in regards to permissions...or anything!

If anyone has any helpful ideas, enlighten me!  Obviously I'd much rather use the free versions versus $149 for the others.

You need to set write permissions on the directory that you upload the files and images to the same way you set write permissions on the directory containing the database.

There is an FAQ in the ASP section of this site on setting up write permissions for the database, just do the same for the directory you want to upload the files and images to.

Done that, keep getting this...

DSUpload.UploadedFile.2 error '80004005'

Can't open file for writing.

/forum/functions/functions_upload.asp, line 193

I have the path set to "uploads" which is in my wwwroot folder.  IUSR has Full Control.

Ideas?

It could be an error with the component, try a different component.

I figured it out...where you have the field to type in the path, I had "uploads" and assume that would go to wwwroot\uploads.   Nope.  So, just added a folder (uploads) under the forum folder, gave permissions and it works

Good job of troubleshooting LePaul for a newbie.

Well I figured, for the benefit of anyone else who comes upon this posting in a search query, I'd provide the answer!

I knew I had the component in ok...just stumped on the pathing thing...I misread his example in the Forum Upload section.
