I searched these forums and haven't found a thread about my question so here goes...
I am a brand new Web Wiz Forums user. I chose a web host that uses mySQL server and downloaded the mySQL version of Web Wiz Forums Express v9. I thought I was following the correct installation instructions ( http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/kb/mySQL_install.asp - mySQL Installation Documentation ), but when I get to step 8 (putting "www.mydomain.com/mySQL_server_setup.asp" in my web browser, I get a 404 error.
I've uploaded the "forum" folder to "/public_html"
I've created a new mySQL database
I've edited the "database_connection.asp" file to include my web IP address, mySQL username, mySQL password and mySQL database name
The domain is brand new and the hosting service says it takes 1-2 days to be active, is this a factor? Did I put the file in the wrong location? Is there a different IP address for the mySQL database than there is for the website? Any other tips that a self-proclaimed newbie can use?
Thanks in advance for your help.
(btw, my background is in graphic design, but mostly in print and identity. I've got a little experience in web design and coding, though not much and I'm a bit rusty. Please speak slowly! haha)

First you should check that your web host meets the minimum requirements for the software:-
http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/kb/requirments.asp - http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/kb/requirments.asp
If your hosting package is not on a Windows web server running IIS then you can not use the software.
The IP address of the mySQL database is usually different to that of the web server as the mySQL database server is usually installed on it's own dedicated server, if not then you should ask your web host why as this could effect performance of web sites running on the same shared server as the mySQL database server.
