I've just upgraded to version 9 and after adjusting the background colour in the 'classic' css file, the page has altered it's layout to show a search box below the logo (top right).

Why would changing a colour do this and does anyone have a fix or idea?

The forum can be viewed at http://www.bluesheets.co.uk/forum/default.asp - www.bluesheets.co.uk/forum/default.asp  (i've reloaded the existing CSS file to stop the error happening).

Could be that you made a typo or error which messed up the CSS file.

Also a hard refresh in your browser (CTRL -> F5) forces your browser to reload CSS and other files again.

I thought that but have just tried again and the search box has popped back up and moved under the logo.

See http://www.bluesheets.co.uk/forum/default.asp - http://www.bluesheets.co.uk/forum/default.asp

The only thing I changed was the background colour of BODY in the classic/default_style.css from #FFFFFF to #F0EFF8.

Any ideas?  That is the right file to change, isn't it?

I've just looked at the CSS file on your forum:-

http://www.bluesheets.co.uk/forum/css_styles/classic/default_style.css

If you scroll down about half-way you can see the entire CSS repeated. It looks like when editing the CSS file you have somehow repeated the original CSS at the end, which is coursing the problem.

That's strange.

I looked at the file in Dreamweaver but couldn't see the duplicates.  I found them using notepad and removed them but still no joy.

I wouldn't us DW for CSS, get yourself a good text editor or use TopStyle Pro.

Looking at your CSS file you have remove the duplicate code, however the last CSS Class is corrupted and has incorrect code and no close } on the end
