In IIS, when I try to login using Administrator and letmein, i get this error message.

"An error has occurred while writing to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator."

i followed the Setting and Checking permissions in IIS on http://www.webwiz.net/kb/asp_knowledgebase/server_permissions.asp - http://www.webwiz.net/kb/asp_knowledgebase/server_permissions.asp

But the same error is occuring!!

If you are still getting a "Object is ready-only" error then the database still doesn't have Read/Write permissions.

Thanks MadDog.  i have gone through the FAQs a few times and retraced my steps.  so far it has not seemed to work.

i would appreciate any additional suggestions.

This error is 100% a permissions issue.

Make sure that you have given the IUSR account read, write, and modify permissions on both the folder and the database.

Access is also very insecure so you may find that you also need to give read. write, and modify permissions to all users on the c:Windows/temp directory as well.

already done.  IUSR was set to fully allow.
also tried to set Fully Allow on the C:Windows/temp directory as well and i still get the same error.

If its set to fully allow then its possible IIS is setup to use a different user.

A "Read-Only" error is only from a permissions error. Nothing else would give that error.

Sometimes i add "Everyone" and give it full permissions to check if its a user problem, if you still get a Read-Only error with "Everyone" then its probably something misconfigured on the server and needs more debugging.

Do not every set "Everyone" with full permissions (or any other user) in a production enviroment... it leaves it open for hackers!

Wait dont leave "Everyone" set!! Its a huge security problem. My point was, if adding "Everyone" worked, then you need to figure out what user is set to IUSR in IIS.

Go into "IIS" and see what user is set for the Security.

No worries.  This isnt going to be live yet.  Right now im just playing around with different stuff to see how they all work and later we will discuss our experiences and choose one that fits best.
