isPostback is a boolean function in .net which indicates weather a PostBack occured. Easy analogy to a PostBack is a submit of some kind, be it a button or form, essentially everything that requires a client2server roundtrip is a postback.

isPostBack is a ASP.net property which indicates whether a PostBack occurred.

If you need your code to be executed just once then;
 if(!ispostback)
{
//Code goes here
//executes only onces
}
