I am designing a page in Dreamweaver that incorporates the Open Browser Window behaviour when the page is loaded to notify users of special information.  Is there a way to ONLY show this window when the user first comes to page and not subsequently in the same session do that it doesn't become irritating?  Would love any advice.

Use cookies, but don't set an expitry date (session cookie) that way the cookie remains till 20 minutes after the user leaves the site.

All you need to do then is see if the cookie is on the users machine or not, if it is then don't display the pop up.

Personally, I really really hate popups. I think they are just an all-round evil annoyance best reserverd for free porn sites.

Try this, get the http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/ - overlib script from http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/ - http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/ , set it to display itself somewhere on the screen and then use a cookie to decide whether it gets displayed or not. This is an infinitely sexier solution than another lame popup. But don't forget to check for browsers that don't support it.

Cheers

Theres a new popup program which overtook Overlib.  Its called JWIN - more powerful, more features, better code.
