why would my site address make a differance?

All other aspects of the WWF free version works fine,

except the posts don't show.

ALl privleges are as they should be.

Your site address makes NO difference. It was just maybe helpful to see what you were seeing. If all the other aspects are working fine, then I assume that you have given your server the correct permissions. Is it access version or sql version? Maybe you need to elaborate on your problem further because your statement was short and a bit vague

Yes it's the free access version.
I can make a post, see the preview, but in the end no text shows up in the pots text area.

Often strange errors like this are due to corrupted files during the FTP process. Try reuploading the files to the server again and see if that fixes the issue.

If you have made modifications then this can sometimes course the forums javascript from running correctly coursing these types of errors so you may want to try with an unmodified forum first then slowly make and test any changes.

It might be then (and I'm only guessing) that if you can see the preview you have ticked the box that says Post Approval??

Thanks for the fast replies.
The files were unzipped on my workstation and transferred over our network to the forums web server. so no corruption there.

Approval is not checked anywhere so that's not an issue either.

is this because its the free access version and is crippled?

In the past have used UBB and decided to go to a ASP version with access and later change over to SQL
WWF is one of 6 forums I've tried but the only one I've had difficulty with.

I dont think it matters whether its access or sql version. I've used both and had no issues, apart from initially forgetting to go into my host settings an get the right write/read and access permissions. I assume that you have no access databases within your site that may be causing conflicts. I know once I tried to run two free access versions on different directories and it still mucked up Ermm

Not much point in having a version that was crippled so you could create posts, wouldn't be much of a forum.

If you have a link to the forum to be able to have a look can usually tell straight away what the problem is.

It's quite often coursed by a conflict or some other issue, but having a look at the forum usually tells quite quickly.
