If someone has no rights to any of the forums in a specific category, is there a way to hide the category as well?

Thanks,

Toine

I´ve asked this question to and you can´t choose to hide just a category. But there is a way: Just write the name of the category with a blank step. ...Just press the space key when you´re give the category the name and the next cat. that you want to hide with two blank step etc.

I hope this function is added to future versions of WWF!

My suggestion would be to change the default.asp script so that it doesn't write the name of the category until it has displayed the first forum in the category.

If there only is one forum in the category it will work but if you´ve five forums in a category and just want to hide one, it will not work.

Hello all!  I have been doing a search on this hidden forum thing... I have catagory with two forums, that I don't want anyone but a selected few to have access to.. which means I don't want others to even know they are there!  (I think that's pretty rude.. like.. "ha, ha.. we get to post here, but you can't.. )

BUT.. I am not understanding this blank space thing.  I did create a catagory with a blank step, but how can anyone log on to it if it's not there, and they can't see it?

Thanks guys for all your help!  There are so many wonderful things to do, I can see where I could spend way too much time just playing!

AH HA!!

Well.. poke around long enough, and I'll be sure to figure out how to do it..

I found the place to hide the forum if you don't have access!  So the catagory being blank, really doesn't matter because you never really go to the catagory.. only to the forum.  So if you belong in that forum, it will show up.. if you dont.. you can't see it!  LOVE IT!

OK.. I am sure I'll be back with more questions.. thanks guys!

I just finished a MOD that takes care of this problem. I'll post it as soon as I'm given access. If you need/want it before then PM your email address and I'll email it to you.

THANKS LJamal!!!

I actually think that this will work for now.  I am just learning how all this stuff works, and fear a MOD might be WAY over my head..

Hopefully, if I still need it, then by the time you post it, I will know how to implement it..

I did have to go back and change the catagories to "private".. when I set up the catatory, I made it private, but for some reason, I had to go back and edit each catagory.  BUT.. I think I got it working!

Love you guys!  Your way over my head.. but I am still trying to tread water.. one day, I might be able to swim with the big dogs!

Actually the mod is not terribly complex, you just replace your current default.asp page with the page in the MOD.
