I was asked today by one of the moderators on the forum about a piece of functionality that is missing after upgrading from version 8 to version 9.

When you are within a topic which has multiple pages at the top right and bottom right of the posts there are links to the different pages.

using Firefox 2 you see the following : Page [drop down selector box to all pages] 1 2 3 20 > (where 1 2 3 20 and > are links to those specific pages)

using I.E 6 and 7 you don't see the drop down selector box so you see : Page 1 2 3 20 >

is there a reason for this as it makes it a pain to jump to a specific page within the topic if using i.e

I've no idea if this is intentional and if it is i'd like to know why and how I could resolve it (i'm assuming its something to do with the browser detection?)

The page link drop down is available in Firefox, IE7, Opera, Safari. The only browser it is missing in is IE 6 and below due to a bug in IE 6 and belows rendering engine which makes the drop down hover over the top of any AJAX.

For this reason IE 6 and below users will not see the page link drop down.

Due to limitations in IE 6 and below the forum degrades for this browser and looses a number of items and shows GIF images instead of the nicer PNG's found in IE7 and other browsers.

You may want to suggest to your moderator to upgrade their browser so that they get full functionality and can see your forum in all it's glory.

Thanks Bruce appreciate the fast response.
I do have a slight problem in that quite a few users are unable to install browsers due to accessing from work or educational facilities. Would it be easy to hack this, so that it did display? I'm assuming the control is within the page and is just hidden based on browser settings?

As I mentioned it's a bug in this browser that won't allow it to work. If you enable it then the drop downs for the other options will not work.

The links to the other pages are still there they just don't have the combined links and drop down in IE 6 and below.
