Hi
I am trying to install IIS on my PC which has Windows XP MCE 2005 operating system.
It is showing an error message saying "setup cannot copy the file staxmem.dl_" ...if I continue anyway it says it is not able to find some other file.
Can someone help me with this issue.Question
I have Cognos 8 on my system so I want to install a web server to work on it.
Thanks

XP Media Center is identical to XP Pro,,, the only thing that I know of that XP Pro has over XP Media Center is that XP Pro can join a domain, where as XP Media Center cannot.

- Do you have your XP setup CD?
- If not, do you have an i386 folder on the local drive?

I've got the same problem on Windows XP Professional sp2 and tried to solve it by upgrading to service pack 3, but the problem remains. Any suggestions?

It may well be because you have up[graded to the latest service pack.

See if you can locate an XP Pro disk with the same service pack as you are currently running to install IIS from.

You should also give Microsoft support a phone as they may well have a solution to this.

When the problem first occured I was running SP2. I then contacted Dell support and they advised me to upgrade to SP3  and when that didn't help to contact Microsoft support. They however doesn't like me since I bought my computer from Dell with XP installed. So now I'm going to contact Dell again but in the meantime I hope that some of you guys or girls out there has a solution.

One work around to see if it works.

Download the full XP SP3. It's will be quite a few 100 MB in size.
Unpack XP 3 to your harddrive so you have all the files in a folder.
Then when you install IIS and it asks for a file try to locate the file within the SP3 download you unpacked to your harddrive.

I don't know if this will work, but have done similar things in the past with other similar issues and it has worked.
