Hi,
Not sure if this has been mentioned before or is in the pipeline for the next version but I would really like to see search engine friendly urls on all my posts.

An excellent example of this can be seen at Web Pro World -

The above is the actual url for a post and great for search engine spidering.  I've noticed they use the following software: http://www.crawlability.com/vbseo/ - http://www.crawlability.com/vbseo/  which is only available for vbulletin users.

Can this be done with Web Wiz?

Cheers
Dan

If you do a search this has been discussed to death.

It is not possisable to do this type of thing in ASP, but there are components are which can be installed on the server such as ISAPI_Rewrite which can do this for you. You create the rules in for IASAPI_Rewrite for the forum and it does the rest. The ISAPI_Rewrite websites uses Web Wiz Forums itself with their component so maybe able to help you out with the correct rules.

I'm not sure that REALLY makes things a lot better, personally. I mean, search engines base so much on content and key words.
I'll give an example:
We were discussing the proper part numbers for a hard to find bushing for our cars. A member posted the number and location of what he'd found to work.
I went to GOOGLE the NEXT DAY, plugged in that part number and business..... and GOOGLE responded with several hits - and in the top 10 was OUR OWN FORUM POST from the prior day!  This tells me Google looked for key words inside the page.............and found them.
I've found similar results for our forum - do a search for certain things, it's very possible one of our forum posts will show up in the search results.
As much as Google and Yahoo hang out at our place, they might as well be registered members! LOL

SEO-urls are overrated and are less the 10% needed to get your site found by search-engines.

I did have a quick look at the 404 method, however the problem is although the 404 page will still contain content using this method the search engine will still get a 404 response from the server, so your pages would actually end up worse off than if you just stuck to using querystrings.
